INTEGRATING YOUR NVU WITH OTHER AFTERMARKET SYSTEMS

NVU TECH DEPT. on 2nd Apr 2025

Working on installing your New Vintage USA gauge kit and running an aftermarket system? We have you covered with over 20 years of experience of helping customers navigate through installations. So lets walk through how to integrate your aftermarket system to your NVU gauge kit!

PLUGGING IN:

This is as easy as it gets, before we get ahead or ourselves start by plugging into the appropriate ports:

untitled-3-9-.png

All 5 and 6-guage kits with OLED screens are plugged in the exact same way across the product line.  You'll also notice that the sender/function wire is on the same gauge that the 2" gauge is plugged into.  (Green fuel sender wire on speedo, fuel gauge plugs into speedo).  The plugs and wiring are not interchangeable on the speedo and tach (you can't plug the volt gauge into the speedo for example, it will think its something else)

SPEEDO:

FUEL: B PORT

WATER TEMP: C PORT

NOT USED: D PORT: This means it not used

TACH:

VOLTS: B PORT

OIL PRESS: D PORT

C PORT: NOT USED

Tach Signals:

Depending on your applicaton your Tach output will vary, with some coming signals output via the aftermarket ECU or in some cases directly from your vehicle Ignition system. Follow along below to figure out where to grab your Tach signal.

  • Holley Sniper:

The Holley Sniper is a very popular choice in the aftermarket, the Tach signal is output via the Dark Brown wire. This is the only signal you are able to grab from the Sniper harness.

  • Aces:

Aces is the new kid on the block when it comes to aftermarket fuel injection systems. No matter which version of their system you have, the Orange wire off the extra Output wires will give you the tach signal.

  • FiTech:

FiTech make a range of Efi systems, one most of their kits you will take your Tach signal from the same spot your that your feeding back to your ECU.

Check out the following diagrams on how to where to grab your tach signal based on your ignition type.

  •  Edelbrock ProFlo

Edelbrock has been around since the start of hotrodding, in the case of the ProFlo EFi systems the tach signal is off your brown/white wire.

  • FAST Efi:

Fast does not offer a Tach out from the Ecu, you will grab it from your Ignition system.

TEMP & PRESSURE SENDER INSTALL

We've compiled some helpful resources to address common installation questions, particularly for popular engine configurations:

  • Small Block Chevy: (Still the most popular engine in the hot-rodding world! Integrating NVU gauges with these is about as easy as it gets.)

Find detailed installation guides and tips here: https://newvintageusallc.mybigcommerce.com/tech-blog-1/small-block-chevy-installations/

  • Small Block Ford: (The Small Block Ford is still extremely popular in builds. No reason to "upgrade" if it works right?)

Explore installation guidance tailored for Small Block Ford engines: https://newvintageusallc.mybigcommerce.com/tech-blog-1/small-block-ford-installations/

  • Coyote: (This is another one that has been full of myths about how to run aftermarket gauges on. It’s a great engine and deserves to be used in builds without the hassle of gauge problems.)

We have information to help you navigate the installation of our gauges on your coyote engine: https://newvintageusallc.mybigcommerce.com/tech-blog-1/integrating-with-coyote-engines/

VOLTS AND FUEL

VOLT gauge is internally monitored, and no additional wiring is required., and no additional wiring is required.

FUEL LEVEL is read from your fuel sender in the fuel tank.  Our Phoenix Platform gauges have fully programmable, dampened fuel gauges that can work on just about any tank/sender.  We have a comprehensive article on how to use, set-up and test fuel senders and gauges RIGHT HERE>>>>
