    The Perfect Overlay!

Posted by Glenn DiOrio on 15th Aug 2019

I hunted and found this as my choice for an upgrade overlay on my 2002 GT. The black background is very hard to see at night and almost as bad in daylight so I opted for a White one. After receiving the overlay it took about 2 hours to install. I'm very picky so took my time and cleaned everything as I proceeded. Instructions are pretty clear and not many surprises along the way. One thing I will mention is the "calibrating" part. I found that the initial picture is fine, but trying to set your speedometer that way is tough. I used a Garmin and also my SCT tuner to verify rpm, speed, volts and water temp. Although the gauges have marks and you can get close, it just helps to be sure. Find some open road, run though some different speeds and you can remove/apply the pointer to get your results perfect. I also installed new LED lights while it was out. They were easy to install and as the directions say, just plug the dash in and verify the polarity. I had to remove and rotate 2 of the 5 plugs. In the end, all good and the dimmer works just fine to have full or minimal lighting. Wasn't sure that was going to work. Overall very pleased :)
